Late snow covers the emerging foliage of tree-peonies. The "rosy snouts" (Gertrude Jekyll) of herbaceous peonies appear.
With warming temperatures, tree-peony foliage continues emerging as the rosy snouts rise and leaf out.
Soon the peony garden is fully budded.
